3 Methods to Treat Bad Breath

Have you ever had bad breath?

If so, know that you don’t suffer it alone. It’s a problem that has basically affected everyone at some point in their lives. If you’ve ever eaten onions or garlic or had any digestion problems, then you’ve probably experienced foul-smelling breath at one point or two. But the question-of-the-day is: what are the best ways to treat bad breath?

Here are some of them.

1. Practice better oral hygiene.
How many times should you brush your teeth daily? While this point is still debated by dental experts, most say that you should brush your teeth two or three times daily. Some experts oppose the rule of brushing after every meal and snack, as the extra brushing sessions could remove enamel from the teeth. Moreover, it’s not enough to brush frequently. You should also make sure to brush properly, to ensure that you remove as much bacteria and plaque as possible.

2. Visit your dentist regularly.
Besides brushing regularly, you should also visit your dentist every six months. Get your teeth cleaned, your cavities filled, and follow your dentist’s advice on how to maintain good oral hygiene.

3. Keep your mouth from drying out.
You probably wouldn’t link a dry mouth to bad breath, but in fact, a dry mouth is more susceptible to bad breath than a moist mouth is. But, have no fear! In this case, you can take steps to treat bad breath! One solution is to drink a sufficient amount of water each day, up to 6 to 8 glasses.

Another option involves chewing sugarless gum, as your mouth will promote more saliva and thus stay moist. However, avoid chewing sugary gums to moisten your mouth. The sugar could promote tooth decay, which could further complicate the problem.

Any time is a good time to treat bad breath. Regular brushing, bi-annual trips to the dentist, and maintaining a moist mouth are just a few effective methods.
